As the New England Patriots are preparing to clash against the Buffalo Bills in a decisive Week 15 clash, Quarterback Drake Maye clarified his feelings on lining up against Josh Allen once more. In an appearance on WEEI Afternoons, Maye said facing Allen is a challenge unlike any other, despite the Patriots’ momentum or home ground advantage. 

“It’s a little different when you’re playing the MVP. One of the best players in the league…” the 23-year-old quarterback said.

Their last match-up ended with a 23-20 victory for the Patriots. That victory resulted in a remarkable 10-game winning streak and has led to a pivotal match this Sunday. If Maye and his team, currently sitting at 11-2, win their next game, they would win the AFC East Division. 

In the 2025 season, Maye has contributed 3,412 passing yards and made 23 touchdowns so far. Allen, on the other hand, has rushed 3,083 yards and executed 22 touchdowns. Both these players are two of the best contenders in this season’s MVP race. And yet, beyond the field and competition, they share mutual respect and a friendly bond. 

“Shoot, I hate to say it, but he’s fun to watch when he’s playing. Big fan of him off the field… He’s been great to me,” Maye said about Allen. Earlier this year, appearing on the Like a Farmer podcast, Allen praised Maye and shared that they had found a “good friendship.”  

The next game has high stakes, and with it, two questions arise: will Maye break down Bill’s defense? And will Allen prove why he’s one of the league’s most dangerous quarterbacks?
