Don't Get Me Wrong: Andrew Berry Clarifies Jerry Jeudy's Future After Draft Decision

Shortly after earning praise for fortifying the offense with this year’s draft picks, Andrew Berry's plans for Jerry Jeudy were unclear for the 2026 season, given that the Browns' 2nd- and 3rd picks were receivers. Now, the Cleveland Browns’ GM has cleared the air.
As per a report by Insider Mary Kay Cabot, Berry reassured Browns fans that Jeudy, the 27-year-old wide receiver, will remain important.
“He’s our bell cow. With receiver rooms, you can have maybe a ball-dominant player, or you can essentially build a basketball team with different skill sets,” he said.
Last year, Jeudy had the most receiving yards on the Browns roster, with only tight end Harold Fannin Jr. managing more (731 receiving yards).
“We prefer the second approach," the GM further said. "Now, don’t get me wrong. I’ll take Calvin Johnson if he’s out there, but we feel like we have a nice, well-rounded room with speed, [yards after catch], contested-catch ability, separation. So we’re really pleased with the youth and talent in that group.”
Berry’s plans for Jeudy were in the spotlight after the franchise picked KC Concepcion as the 24th overall pick, followed by Denzel Boston as the 39th overall pick, both wide receivers.
Concepcion is coming off 61 receptions, nine touchdowns for 919 yards in the 2025 season with Texas A&M. The 21-year-old impressed Berry with his grit and team spirit.
Moreover, Denzel Boston, 22, turned his Washington State career around in the last two years with 800+ receiving yards in each season, ending his college years with 132 receptions and 20 TDs.
With these two picks, Berry ticked off one of the biggest priorities and a glaring weakness from last season.
How Did The Browns' WR Department Perform Last Season?
The Browns ended the 2025 season with a 5-12 record and at the bottom of the division ranking.
The wide receiver room was particularly lacking, with no receiver reaching the 1,000-yard mark.
Jeudy managed to gain just 602 yards, two touchdowns from 50 receptions, and his performance was the leading one in the WR room. Cedric Tillman made 21 receptions and scored two TDs as well, totalling 270 yards.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Bond and Jamari Thrash couldn’t manage a TD despite having 300+ and 100+ yards, respectively.
With two new, fresh, top-rated prospects, there is hope in the locker room. Regardless of who takes the QB1 role in 2026, they will have a handful of picks to throw to.
