After a 5-12 finish last season, the Cleveland Browns made sweeping offseason changes to their roster. Now, as training camp highlights the impact of the revamped offense and defense, Shedeur Sanders has delivered a message to his team.

As training camp intensified, Shedeur Sanders had a little chat with the Browns' in-house team, where he was asked about his leadership style and what he wants from his teammates.

“I would say, overall, just be yourself. You don’t do anything odd or weird; just be yourself,” said Sanders, keeping his answer as straightforward as possible.

Quite genuine advice from Shedeur Sanders in his conversation with the Browns team as mentioned in a conversation with Browns legend Bernie Kosar. It must be noted that the second-year quarterback has had his fair share of struggles.

Not only did he fail to make a statement with his performances, but he was also ranked 42nd out of 43 qualified quarterbacks by PFF.

He threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while taking a massive 23 sacks last season, winning three of his seven starts. However, he is the same quarterback who threw a touchdown pass in 49 straight games, the longest streak in NCAA D1 (FBS and FSC) history.

Having seen such a downfall from his collegiate career, Sanders has only one piece of advice for his teammates: be as genuine as possible.

“At this point in life, people love genuine, people love authentic, and people love realness. That’s what I love the most about the teammates: if they don’t like something, they don’t like it. That’s why it’s real fun," Sanders said.

While last year was truly an eye-opener for the young quarterback, the former Jets GM believes that Sanders should be the team's starting quarterback this year.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Mike Tannenbaum argued that the Browns should give Sanders the opportunity because he offers the franchise a long-term solution.

"It's a no-brainer; you've got to go with Shedeur Sanders," Tannenbaum said. "Shedeur physically has all the measurables you want; [he] has a good arm. Look, last year was a disaster. That wasn't his fault. I'm intrigued; I thought there was enough good tape you saw in Colorado that he can make all the throws. He can process well.”

This training camp has shown that Shedeur Sanders is a strong candidate for the starting job, having outperformed Deshaun Watson throughout the sessions.

Through four training camp practices, Shedeur Sanders completed 70.3% of his passes with four touchdowns and one interception, while Deshaun Watson managed 64.4%, throwing three touchdowns and six interceptions, highlighting the stark contrast in their early camp performances.

Good training camp performances could help decide who wins the Browns’ quarterback competition and becomes the Week 1 starter.

According to Todd Monken, the Browns will have their starting quarterback selected before the season opener against Jacksonville on September 13.
