“Doesn’t Bother Me”: Mike Vrabel Gets Honest Over Patriots Disrespect Ahead of Super Bowl
The New England Patriots’ head coach, Mike Vrabel, isn’t too concerned about the doubters ahead of the Super Bowl.
While appearing on The Greg Hill Show, the 50-year-old talked about the disrespect to his team from the fans.
“It doesn’t matter [if we’re being disrespected]. We’re in the Super Bowl… It doesn’t bother me,” Vrabel said.
Vrabel took charge of the Patriots this year after a horrible 2024 season. Under Jerod Mayo, the team finished at the bottom of the AFC East with a 4-13 record.
Vrabel soon replaced Mayo, and it’s safe to say that was a correct decision. He took them to the top of the AFC East with a 14-3 record and an AFC No. 2 seed.
Players like Drake Maye, Stefon Diggs, and rookie TreVeyon Henderson have found their best forms under Vrabel's coaching. While the young running back is nearing 1000 rushing yards with 9 touchdowns, Diggs made an inspiring comeback, crossing the 1000+ receiving-yard mark this season.
Now, after a tough 10-7 victory against the Broncos in the AFC Championship game, they will play the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. It will be intriguing to see whether Vrabel leads New England to their first Lombardi Trophy since 2018.
Mike Vrabel on Drake Maye
The second-year quarterback, Drake Maye, has produced an MVP-level season.
However, there were some doubts about whether he would play in the Super Bowl. HC Mike Vrabel gave a straightforward answer in the media conference.
“Everybody, and including Drake, is not 100% at this part of the year. We’ll do everything that we can to help our players be prepared.”
This season, Maye has exploded, scoring 31 touchdowns for 4394 passing yards. However, his playoff performances were quite underwhelming, throwing for only 533 yards and 4 touchdowns. Not only that, opposing teams sacked Maye a total of 15 times in these three games.
Will the 23-year-old be at his 100% against the Seahawks? Let us know in the comments!
