The Cleveland Browns traded defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in June. The Browns didn't expect the DE to soften his stance for the Rams, but they seemed to have misjudged Garrett's hunger for a championship win, an enviable quality in NFL stars.

Garrett attended spring workouts and reworked his contract with Los Angeles, agreeing to a $5 million raise in 2026 in exchange for a $10.7 million pay cut in 2027. FanSided expert Nick Villano discussed what the DE's approach revealed about his priorities.

“Garrett is a team player based on everything we’ve seen him do on and off the football field. Being the guy who picks up the slack for salaries in pursuit of a championship is always a good look for public perception," Villano wrote.

Villano's take in the June 29 Fansided report suggests that Garrett's rigid stance with the Browns came from his frustration with the Browns' inability to make the playoffs in the past two seasons.

With the Rams, he has a legitimate chance to end his career with a Super Bowl ring, which is why he's been willing to agree to everything the franchise has asked of him.

"This is the guy we just saw break the sacks record, which stood for more than a decade. Garrett is as dominant as they come, but he came out of negotiations with his new team, and he understood the assignment," the expert wrote.

Garrett certainly has what it takes to be considered the best trade of the season. After all, he's a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, a seven-time Pro Bowler, and a seven-time AP All-Pro. Villano's take reveals

On top of that, he recorded 412 tackles, 125.5 sacks, 23 forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries in his nine seasons with the Browns. He is widely regarded as a future Hall of Famer.

This was a blockbuster deal that tilted the scales in the Rams' favor. In fact, one insider suggests that Los Angeles could achieve a 20-sack season with the DE.

What can the Rams expect from Myles Garrett?

According to ESPN analyst Benjamin Solak, Myles Garrett will have a really good season this year. The analyst predicts that he might rack up 20 sacks as part of his 10 bold forecasts for the 2026 season.

“I can't really find a good reason to say Garrett's going to be worse in 2026 besides regression. And if his sack rate regresses but his total opportunities for sacks increase, he should be in range of repeating a 20-sack year,” wrote Solak on July 1.

No one will be surprised to witness another 20-sack campaign from Myles Garrett, especially with the Rams. However, historical records show how rare a feat it will be, which makes Benjamin Solak's projection as bold as it is intriguing.

Since sacks became an official stat in 1982, only J.J. Watt has recorded multiple 20-sack seasons, accomplishing the feat in 2012 and 2014. It's worth noting that Watt was in his mid-20s at the time, while Garrett is now in his early 30s.

Age factor is a big thing here. That said, we will have to wait to witness what the future holds for Garrett.
