“Every week I'm getting more confident and more comfortable with myself. I got told, Monk, and I told the team I feel good, I'm healthy, I trust the work that I've put in these last two years, and if you've got to put the ball in my hands, I'm ready for it. So whatever we've got to do to make the team win and keep the drives moving, I'm ready for it.”

That confidence could prove important for Watson moving forward. The Week 2 victory does not erase everything that happened against Jacksonville, but it gives him something tangible to build on. More importantly, Watson now has a chance to turn one encouraging performance into sustained progress.

Todd Monken Plans to Give Deshaun Watson a Long Leash

Todd Monken has already made it clear that Watson remains his quarterback despite the outside criticism. That decision came under heavy scrutiny after Week 1, but the Browns' response in Tampa Bay gives Monken and Watson some breathing room.
