Deshaun Watson edged out Shedeur Sanders in the Cleveland Browns QB battle and was named QB1 heading into the new season by HC Todd Monken. Watson, it seems, will only have a limited amount of time to prove that he's the right man to lead the team.

Since being traded to the Browns and signing a guaranteed $230 million dollar fully guaranteed contract, Watson has failed to come anywhere near to expectations. With injury issues as well as well-documented off-field issues, he's looked a fraction of the player he was in Houston.

According to Jason LaCanfora of casino.org, the Browns are only prepared to give Watson a little of four games to prove he can still be a reliable starting QB in the NFL. LaCanfora wrote:

"Inside information at the Browns suggests that Deshaun Watson’s time as the starting quarterback is under serious pressure, with news stating that he has only four-to-six weeks to impress before Shedeur Sanders gets his opportunity." [via casino.org]

Todd Monken defends Deshaun Watson QB1 decision

Speaking to the media, Browns head coach Todd Monken defended picking Deshaun Watson as his started despite Browns fans clamoring for Shedeur Sanders to be named QB1.

Defending his decision to pick Watson, Coach Monken said:

"Would I prefer that we'd all be on the same page? Yeah, but that has nothing to do with my decision. My decision's gotta be what's the best for the Browns Week 1 and all the way through the season and as long as I'm head coach here." [via 92.3 The Fan]

The Cleveland Browns start their season on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 13.
