A few days ago it was confirmed that Deshaun Watson would be QB1 for the Browns. The news came as a shock especially for the Shedeur Sanders fans among them.

It's reached a point now, where the season hasn't even kicked off yet, and fans are already calling for HC Todd Monken to reverse his decision. As of now, that is unlikely to happen. However, Watson days maybe numbered.

It would be safe to assume that Watson will be held on a short leash. After all, he hasn't played a game since October 2024. With that in mind, one analyst has predicted that he won't even make it out of Week 3.

Speaking on CBS Sports HQ, Ryan Wilson suggested that if Watson struggles and the Browns lose their first three games, there is no way he sees the field against the Steelers in Week 4.

"First two games on the road. If they come home in that Week 3 game against the Panthers in the home opener and get the doors blown off, there's no way he can start that Thursday night game against Pittsburgh."

The Browns may have decided who QB1 is, but it's safe to say the battle is far from over.

The Browns have three potential replacement for Deshaun Watson

As of now, Deshaun Watson is QB1, but should things change, like mentioned earlier, best believe the Browns have replacements ready.

The obvious choice is Shedeur Sanders. However, for some reason, it would seem as though the front office and coaching staff are still not conviced.

But fear not, there is also 2026 draft pick Taylen Green and sophomore QB Dillon Gabriel, who as of now has been placed on injury reserve.

The Browns have backups for their backups. Now, only one question remains. Will they be able to settle on a definite starter once all is said and done?
