Deshaun Watson Addresses Browns Rookie's Costly Mistake Following Week 7 Win

The Cleveland Browns secured a dramatic 27-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans, with Deshaun Watson delivering one of his strongest performances since joining Cleveland. The quarterback completed 25 of 36 passes for 308 yards, his first 300-yard passing performance with the Browns. However, an early interception provided one blemish on an otherwise impressive outing.

Watson had targeted rookie wide receiver Denzel Boston on a slant route during Cleveland's opening possession. Boston dipped underneath the route instead of maintaining his path, allowing Titans cornerback Cor'Dale Flott to intercept the pass. The turnover helped Tennessee build an early lead.

Boston recognised his mistake and approached Watson immediately after the play. He also apologised to his quarterback in the locker room after the game, acknowledging that his route had put Watson in a difficult position.

Rather than berating the rookie, Watson viewed the incident as an opportunity to help him improve.

"It's a teaching moment for a young receiver and we're not going to charge it against him. I'm not going to be pissed off about it. It happens, it is what it is. We got the W, but it's definitely a good teaching moment."

Watson's response demonstrated his willingness to support Boston through the learning process. The quarterback understood the importance of route discipline and trust, but he refused to let one mistake overshadow the rookie's development.

Deshaun Watson Delivers Crucial Late Drive Against Titans

Watson recovered from the interception and helped Cleveland complete its comeback. After Tennessee tied the game late, he led a decisive drive that included a 36-yard completion to Harold Fannin Jr. That set up Andre Szmyt's game-winning 32-yard field goal as time expired. <Cite refs={["turn110716search6"]}/>

The victory gave Cleveland another important result in its AFC North campaign. For Watson and Boston, the interception offered a lesson, but the comeback ultimately mattered far more.
