The Cleveland Browns improved to 2-1 with a 21-18 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 3. Deshaun Watson helped secure Cleveland’s second straight win, despite a shaky offensive performance.

Watson completed 16 of 30 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns. However, questions remain after another uneven showing. Speaking on the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, Browns analyst Garrett Bush offered an assessment after reviewing the All-22.

He believes Watson’s performance looked worse on film and warned that Cleveland could be getting a sense of security from its results. Bush explained that poor decisions could create problems that do not immediately show up on the scoreboard. He described those issues as delayed consequences:

“I will say this, life is about delayed success and delayed consequences. Sometimes you can do everything right, but the success isn't there.”

Bush then connected that warning to Watson:

“To me, that's not sustainable over a long period of time. He has to play dramatically better if they wanna get to the playoffs.”

Cleveland must find more consistency on offense

Garrett Bush noted that Cleveland must also find greater consistency across the offense.

He specifically pointed to the running game as an area that needs significant improvement. His point was that the Browns have yet to see the full consequences of those shortcomings.

The Browns scored 23 points against Tampa Bay in Week 2 before producing 21 against Carolina. With Pittsburgh next on Thursday, Cleveland will need greater consistency.
