Deion Sanders Refused Financial Help To Shedeur Sanders and His Brothers
Growing up as the sons of an NFL legend like Deion Sanders might sound like a shortcut to success. But for Shedeur Sanders and his brothers, it came with a different lesson.
Long before the spotlight followed Shedeur, Shilo, and Deion Sanders Jr., Coach Prime made sure his children understood the value of earning their own way rather than depending on him. He pushed his sons to build their own careers and secure financial independence.
“My dad is a real live man; he’s a legit man," Deion Jr. said in an interview as reported by Bro Bible on May 26. "So he raises kids to be men, which is actually rare these days. If you don’t have any money? Go. Do something about it. Why are you even telling me? You’re a man."
Deion's sons took the advice seriously.

Shedeur built a big NIL portfolio during his college football career, which was reported to be $6.5 million by On3. He recently earned $17.7 million through the NFL Players Association licensing.
Deion Sanders Jr. said that he once had only $11 to his name, yet his father didn't give him any money. However, it pushed him to start something of his own, and now his Well Off Forever brand has 168K followers on Instagram.
Not just his sons, Deion applies this same philosophy for the Colorado players as well, fining them if they fall short of meeting the expectations off the field.
“I don’t get involved in what you make, or whatever,” Coach Prime told his team. “But when you stop going to class, now you’re affecting me. So we’re going to affect your check.
Deion wants his sons to be accountable and expects them to handle their own business and bills. Meanwhile, being the proud brother, Deion Sanders Jr. recently made a playful comment celebrating his brother's record breaking earning through the NFLPA.
Deion Sanders Jr. Playfully Calls Out Shedeur As Concerns Loom About His QB1 Opportunity
A recent lighthearted moment involving Shedeur's older brother, Deion Sanders Jr., grabbed attention online after jokes surfaced about wanting a share of the quarterback's growing earnings.
"I know @ShedeurSanders not gone be selfish and keep it all for himself," Deion Sanders Jr. wrote on his X post on May 30.
While Shedeur has hit a milestone off the field, the 2026 season is going to be crucial for the Cleveland Browns quarterback.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the veteran quarterback, Deshaun Watson, and new head coach Todd Monken have built an early connection, with Watson leading off nearly every drill at OTAs.
Shedeur, in the meantime, is looking for an opportunity to prove himself in Cleveland. The rookie's first season was challenging, as he was sacked 23 times in eight games, recording ten interceptions against seven touchdown passes.
Although Shedeur's NFL journey is still taking shape, he and his siblings have earned Deion's admiration by becoming financially self-sufficient.
