Deion Sanders’ latest appearance on ESPN's First Take gave insight into how he’s been taking the ups and downs of Shedeur’s rookie year. And the Super Bowl Champion is not happy. 

When asked if he would take up the role of a head coach in the NFL, Sanders responded with:

"Not whatsoever. What transpired with my son (Shedeur Sanders) last year, ain’t no way in the world. No, I don’t have a …"

Well, Shedeur did not get off to a good start. In the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur, expected to be a first-round pick, had slipped to the fifth round, being snapped up by the Browns as the 144th pick. But even then, it took over 2 months for him to play his first snap of the regular season.

The Browns put him at QB4, and when Joe Flacco was traded away, Dillon Gabriel was handed the starting job. And Sanders' lack of practice time showed in his first game.

When Gabriel had a concussion against the Ravens in Week 11, he managed just 47 yards with a 25% completion rate. However, after getting the starting role, Shedeur managed to improve, with seven touchdowns for 1,400 yards in the eight games he played.

And this was despite what a lot of fans termed as 'sabotage' from then-head coach Kevin Stefanski, including a call against the Tennessee Titans where he pulled Shedeur off the field, and on one occasion, there was a big fumble with the wristband and call sheet.

Deion Sanders, however, didn't mention any of these instances. Instead, he chose to pause for a moment, later explaining:

"Thank you Lord. When I stop like that, that don’t mean I’m lost for words … that means God said, ‘You a head coach now, you can’t do that. You can’t talk like that, you can’t say that. I know you’re comfortable with your brothers here, but you can’t say that.’"

However, Coach Prime is optimistic about the future for his family.

"It was a tough year (for the Sanders family). We didn’t fault him. We didn’t doubt. We didn’t back up off that thing. We stood there and we fought, man. And we’re back. This year, in 2026, is ours. We’re going to dominate this year, from the top to the bottom."

Well, Shedeur wasn't the only one having a tough time. Shilo Sanders went undrafted and was later ejected due to an altercation on the field.
