Deion Sanders Breaks Silence on Son Shedeur’s $17.7M Record
The Cleveland Browns’ quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, has become the talk of the town again with the news of his $17.7 million licensing income, as per the NFLPA’s report.
His father and NFL legend Deion Sanders shared a message on X regarding his son’s financial success, which broke Tom Brady’s previous record of $9.5 million.
“I’m so darn proud of my kids,” said Deion in the video. “I just had a kid (Shedeur) who made the most money in the history of the NFL in sales. That wasn’t even including the jerseys, y’all don’t know that, that was another deal.”

During an interview with Front Office Sports, Deion Sanders was asked more about the younger Sanders’ earnings.
“I’m proud of him. I don’t know if people really dug into that,” replied Deion. “It has nothing to do with his jersey sales. That’s a whole other category. (This) was just licensing cards or whatsoever. So I’m happy, I’m truly happy.”
Per Nicolaas Ackermann of Pro Football Network, Deion shared that he and his son are entering the 2026 season as stakeholders in an exotic property deal.
“And not only that, we ventured into our first property together,” revealed Deion. “We went 50/50. I gave him, matter of fact, we went 51/49. I gave him the upper half, you know, of the controlling interest of the property on an island that we love and we agreed upon.”
Sanders was the fifth-round pick and 144th overall of the Browns during the 2025 NFL Draft. He signed a basic four-year contract of approximately $4.64 million. His rookie year in the NFL saw him playing only seven games as the Browns’ starter QB.
Through his business ventures, Sanders now holds the record for the most money earned from licensing deals despite his rocky journey so far in the league.
Per the NFLPA’s report, the top two earners from the licensing deals share a connection with Deion Sanders.
The NFLPA’s Top-Earning Duos' Connection With Coach Prime
Kyle Mosley of HBCU Legends on SI shared that the NFL and the NFLPA are thriving with Shedeur Sanders at the top. His licensing income of $17.7 million was two times more than the previous record.
This year’s report by the NFLPA sees two names at the top who overcame Brady’s record. First was Sanders, and following him was the former Colorado Buffaloes’ star and Sanders’ former teammate, Travis Hunter, who earned $12.8 million.
Interestingly, the duo has a direct connection with Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime. While Shedeur is his son, both played under Deion at Jackson State University and then at Colorado before entering the NFL.
