Daily News Roundup: Ja'Marr Chase Suspended, Boyd Hospitalized, and Much More

Week 11 shook things up. From Shedeur Sanders’ debut, Patrick Mahomes’ loss, and Josh Allen’s moment of glory, there were highlights on the field. But there were major controversies you may have missed out on. Shedeur Sanders’ debut was made worse by a $200,000 loss. On top of that, the Bengals may be missing a star player in their next game, and one Jets player had a near-fatal incident. Let’s dive right into it.
Ja'Marr Chase Suspended in Spitting Incident
Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey was ejected from the field for punching Ja’Marr Chase. After the game, however, Chase was suspended for one game without pay for spitting on Ramsey. As referee Bill Vinovich said, “We did not see anything that rose to that level at all.” Ja'Marr Chase denied doing so, but his appeal was denied.
In addition to his suspension, Chase was fined his weekly paycheck of $448,333 and $58,823 from his per-game bonus for violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, i.e, any act that is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship.
Kris Boyd Hospitalized after a Shooting
Kris Boyd was injured in an incident on Sunday morning and is in a critical, but stable condition in a Manhattan hospital. The Jets cornerback was at an Asian restaurant, Sei Less, with friends and exited around 2 am. They got into a scuffle with another group, with Boyd being shot in the abdomen and the bullet lodged in his lung. He was transported to Bellevue Hospital with multiple medical procedures.
An NYPD investigation is underway, with Boyd already giving his statement to detectives. The Jets and the rest of the community came together to wish Boyd a quick and safe recovery.
Shedeur Sanders' House Burgled
While Sanders was making his debut, his home was being broken into. According to the police, three suspects entered Sanders’ house, located 30 miles southwest of Cleveland, at 6:46 p.m. They exited approximately 12 minutes later, carrying several bags of Sanders’ items worth approximately $200,000.
Sanders is the latest NFL player to become the victim of burglary, with Joe Burrow, Travis Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes facing similar ordeals before. At the moment, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the burglary.
Aaron Rodgers Injury Setback
At 41, Aaron Rodgers has been redefining the standards for NFL veterans. Against the Bengals, the Steelers' QB had 116 yards with a touchdown, but had to leave the field after landing on his left hand during a tackle with just seconds left in the second quarter.
Despite visible discomfort in his fractured wrist, coach Mike Tomlin clarified he will not need surgery. As for next week, Tomlin said, “We'll see where the week goes.” Rodgers won’t practice on Wednesday, with Mason Rudolph on standby. Based on his recovery during the week, Rodgers may play the game in Week 12.
Do you think Rodgers will return in time for the Steelers’ game against the Bears?
