Cowboys HC Fires Warning Shot to Rivals After Major Turnaround After 2 Years

Nov 28, 2025, 6:31 PM CUT

The Cowboys have just turned their season around in their last three games. First, it was the 33-16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, followed by a comeback from a 0-21 over the defending champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, to win the game by 24-21, and then another win (31-28) over Super Bowl winners, the Kansas City Chiefs, a win they waited for 4 years.

The last time they won three games in a row was in 2023, and excited by the turnaround after 2 years, their head coach has sent a warning for the coming games.

"We'll play anybody, anywhere," coach Brian Schottenheimer said. "You can see that by what we've done the last couple of weeks. The moment's not too big for us." Taking down two Super Bowl winners, that too when everybody was criticizing you for your weak defense and counting you out of the game, is no small feat. In fact, they are the first team in NFL history to beat both of the previous season's Super Bowl participants in a span of 5 days or less.

They have to face the Lions, Vikings, Chargers, Commanders, and Giants next. If you look overall, nobody except the Lions seems like a competition enough for this team, and with a 3-0 streak, they might even scare the Lions, but Prescott has that game in his thoughts.

After the game, he said, “I can tell you right now that we're not going to just sit on some high because of [the winning streak]. We know we've got a big one coming again next week. And all this really does for us is just give us more confidence knowing that we can go play with whoever." The Lions lost their Thanksgiving game to the Packers 24-31, but let’s not forget they sit with a PPG of 29.2, which is only .1 less than that of the Cowboys.

Whether they win or lose, one thing's for sure. It was a special moment for Schottenheimer, because it was 30 years in the making!

Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer

30 years ago, in 1995, the Cowboys and the Chiefs were head-to-head for another game that took place on Thanksgiving. While the Cowboys won 24-12, it was a difficult moment for Schottenheimer. We're not talking about Brian, but his father!

His late father, Marty Schottenheimer, who passed away in 2021 at 77, coached the Kansas City Chiefs for 10 seasons starting in 1989. He was the coach who lost the Cowboys vs Chiefs Thanksgiving game in 1995. Three decades later, Schottenheimer was on a different side of the battle, and he's not going to miss this chance to celebrate.

The Cowboys head coach said, “To me, this is a tough business, man. And if you don't celebrate these amazing times and these big wins, then why are we working so hard? Why do we sacrifice what we sacrifice of times with our family and things like that if you're not going to enjoy it and have fun?" After the Thanksgiving game, inside the locker room, music blared, players danced, and everybody was in a festive mood.

What do you think of the Cowboys? Will they make the playoffs? Let us know in the comments.
