With the HC gap having to be filled, within the Browns rumor have surfaced about a father-son reunion. It suggests that Deion Sanders might be a candidate to coach the Cleveland team.

Following Kevin Stefanski's departure, the Hall of Famer's name surfaced a lot in fan discussions and media speculation.

Of course, the idea of bringing Deion as the new Browns' head coach holds a lot of personal weight, considering his son, Shedeur Sanders, making his name at the QB position.

However, the chances of that happening are very low. Deion has been putting a lot of focus on his current program. He has coached the Colorado Buffaloes for three seasons, compiling a 16-21 record.

Meanwhile, in the past two seasons, Cleveland won only 8 games and lost 26. Following the 20-18 win over the Bengals in the last regular-season game, they sacked Stefanski, leaving the job of head coaching wide open.

Although the idea of both Shedeur and Deion sounds exciting to many fans, there are more than one reason why this decision could be catastrophic for the Browns.

Why Hiring Deion Sanders is unlikely

If the Cleveland Browns do hire Deion Sanders, there is no doubt that he will bring instant credibility, leadership, and a clear identity, which the team has been missing for the past two seasons.

However, there are more negatives than positives to the decision. Most NFL teams look for a name who has experience in coaching and winning. Unfortunately, Deion has only coached college football teams like the Colorado Buffaloes and Jackson State.

Another important factor the fans need to consider is Shedeur himself. If the Browns sign Deion, they have to put all trust in the rookie QB, despite an average rookie season. Sanders has scored 7 touchdowns for 1400 passing yards in seven starts this season.

If he fails to make improvements to his game despite his father being a head coach, Cleveland is in for another disappointing season.
