Chad Johnson Backs Surprising AJ Brown & Josh Allen Link-Up Amidst Concerns Over Eagles Future
Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson has a bold solution for the Buffalo Bills' receiver needs: a trade for A.J. Brown.
In the Nightcap podcast, Johnson pitched the idea of Brown coming to the Bills. As Johnson mentioned, Brown would take the number 11, currently worn by Mitchell Trubisky.
"He going to take that 11 off for AJBrown...Take it off hisback. I'm not paying you nothing. We talking about AJ Brown coming at a playwide receiver numero uno. I don't care if it was Prince Charles."
Trubisky is the backup quarterback, having played nine NFL seasons. The Bills' QB2 has thrown for 13,028 yards and 78 touchdowns with a completion rate of 64.4%. However, he might not have to give jersey number 11 away. His March 2024 extension makes him a free agent in 2026.
For the Bills, he could be a game-changer. Brown has six 1000+ receiving yards seasons out of his seven total in the NFL, tallying 56 touchdowns in total. Moreover, after the Bills favored a defense-heavy route, the wide receiver position desperately needs reinforcements.
The big roadblock to that is that Brown signed a contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles in April 2024 worth up to $96 million. The extension runs through the 2029 NFL season. Of course, the Eagles can trade him, but who does the Bills have to return?
Shannon Sharpe Wanted AJ Brown to Leave the Eagles
The Eagles lost the chance to win the Super Bowl two times in a row after a 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. AJ Brown's performance in that game was not great.
He recorded 3 receptions on 7 targets for 25 yards, averaging 8.3 yards per catch. He had two costly drops, including one on a key third-and‑5 late in the game. Sharpe was angry at him.
“Me, personally, I think it’s the best if the Eagles just go their separate ways. He needs to go somewhere where he feels like he’s going to get — he’s looking at it, Ocho, like I need to be getting the Puka Nacua type targets.”
