Cedric Tillman’s Future With Browns in Doubt After Major Changes Post-Draft
The Cleveland Browns struggled on offense last season, finishing near the bottom of the league in several key categories. The front office addressed the need by drafting two highly touted prospects in Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion and Washington’s Denzel Boston during the 2026 NFL Draft.
Per Jaleel Grandberry of Dawg Pound Daily, the veteran who was negatively impacted by the WRs the Browns drafted was Cedric Tillman. A reason for this is that the second WR, Denzel Boston, fits the same profile as Tillman. Both are big-bodied and share almost the same height at 6’3 and 6’4.
Per Ernesto Cova of Dawg Pound Daily, the Browns had high hopes for Cedric Tillman, who entered the NFL with the No.1 wide receiver potential. He signed with the Browns in 2023 for a four-year contract of $5.6 million. But injuries and subpar quarterback play derailed his on-field performance.
The 26-year-old WR played in 38 games and has caught 71 passes for 833 yards and five total touchdowns. His numbers aren’t bad, but with the newly drafted talent the Browns have in the WR room, there is a possibility of Tillman becoming a depth option.
According to Cade Cracas of the Cleveland Browns on SI, the Browns’ depth chart for 2026 will mostly have Jerry Jeudy as their number 1. Then, for speed across the middle of the field, the team would prefer to have Concepcion and Isaiah Bond playing their part. Finally, Boston would come in with his vertical presence.

Cracas added that Tillman doesn't have a track record as good as the other WRs. The Browns could reconsider investing in Tillman for the long-term. However, given his age, he could become better and contribute more.
Cracas further reported that Tillman should consider staying on the roster as their 5th or 6th WR and play fewer snaps, to be in the league for a long time. Or the Browns should consider trading him during the offseason while his value is still fairly high.
The Browns' New WR Talent in Concepcion and Boston
The Browns’ offense got a rebrand with the coming in of KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reported that the Browns' wide-receiving corps was statistically one of the NFL’s worst in the previous seasons.
The Browns addressed their pressing need by drafting KC Concepcion in the first round as their overall 24th pick. Their next pick came in the second round with Denzel Boston being their overall 39th pick.
Easterling further added that KC’s skill set of elite route running and speed makes him ideal to move around formations and create mismatches. On the other hand, Boston is big-bodied and can be a mismatch, especially in the red zone.
The arrivals of Concepcion and Boston have left a question mark on Tillman’s future as he completes the final year of his rookie contract.
