Cedric Tillman & Dawand Jones among those with most to lose at browns training camp
Cleveland's offseason reset keeps growing. Coaching changes and a quarterback battle were only the beginning. The Browns' latest restructuring may now put wide receiver Cedric Tillman and tackle Dawand Jones under added pressure.
Injuries have already cost Tillman too much, and if he fails to impress during training camp, NFL analyst Brandon Little of A to Z Sports believes this could be his final season in Cleveland, with little chance of earning a spot on the roster.
“A poor training camp could make the Browns’ decision to leave him off the roster easy. Tillman is definitely a former Browns draft pick whose spot is not safe,” wrote Brandon Little.

The Browns refreshed their receiving corps with early draft picks this year, adding KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. While neither has shown much during the offseason yet, their arrival puts wide receiver Cedric Tillman on notice.
Last year, Tillman recorded 21 receptions for 270 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 13 games. Those kinds of numbers have put him on notice as Todd Monken looks to completely overhaul the roster.
While Little believes Tillman will have a tough time earning a spot on the roster, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal didn't even include him in his early 53-man Browns roster projection.
Easterling noted it's still too early to make definitive calls since plenty can change, but he believes Tillman faces an uphill battle to make the team. While Tillman is on notice, Little's report suggests OT Dawand Jones is also on shaky ground.
It's not just Cedric Tillman; Dawand Jones is also on notice
Back in 2023, the Browns landed a promising tackle in Dawand Jones. However, injuries have derailed his career. Over the past three seasons, he has missed 27 games, and now training camp could determine whether he remains on the roster.
While he may face an uphill battle to make the roster, Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot said on the Orange and Brown Talk podcast that the Browns' top brass is actually pleased with his performance.
“He had a very, very impressive offseason program and impressive OTAs and minicamp, and George Warhop really likes him. And the Cleveland Browns will find a spot for Dawand Jones. If he is one of the best five offensive linemen, they will find a place for him,” said Cabot on June 22.
Jones received the message from the coaches: if you're good enough, you'll play. Now, the only thing left is for him to produce positive results in training camp.
Given that, what is your opinion on Cedric Tillman and Dawand Jones? Let us know in the comments.
