Browns urged to trade Cedric Tillman amidst growing competition for WR role

With just 21 receptions from last year, could a new beginning in a different franchise be the way forward for Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver Cedric Tillman? A report states that accepting a trade is better than being at the bottom of the roster, where Tillman would most likely be this year.

“While Tillman could potentially stick as a fourth or fifth receiver and a core special-teamer, he should be hoping for a better opportunity to play,” Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox urged the Browns on July 25. “He’s still only 26 years old, and he’ll get his first taste of free agency in 2027. Teams lacking receiver depth and in position to bet on a younger receiver should be interested.”

Tillman is one of the seven NFL players who are believed to need a trade for the better. The 26-year-old has played for three seasons in the NFL and all with the Browns.

After a breakout season in 2024, he fell into a rut last season, much like the rest of the wide receiver room. In 2025, he played in 13 games, the most he has so far, and recorded 21 receptions.

He was targeted 39 times, and he amassed 270 receiving yards for just two receiving touchdowns. Jerry Jeudy led with 50 receptions for 106 targets for 602 yards and two TDs.

“He was merely a role player this past season, and now, he’s probably buried on the depth chart,” Bleacher Report opined. “The Browns are bringing back Jerry Jeudy and Isaiah Bond, and they just drafted Kevin Concepcion and Denzel Boston in the first and second round, respectively.”

Moreover, Jeudy appears to retain his WR 1 position. During the 2026 NFL Draft, general manager Andrew Berry called Jeudy, 28, the Browns’ “bell cow” to answer the questions about his place on the team after the franchise picked new WRs.

The Browns picked new wide receivers, KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, this year. He began as a starter and was a role player last year. Now, in 2026, he faces further depth-chart pressure.

This trade appeals financially too. This season is the final year on Tillman’s contract with the Browns. The franchise had signed him to $5.6 million in 2023, and letting him go would only create more space in the WR room.

So, if Tillman was to be traded, what are his landing spots?

As the conversation around possibly trading wide receiver Cedric Tillman unfurls, questions on which team should consider him arise.

“Teams lacking receiver depth and in position to bet on a younger receiver should be interested,” Bleacher Report said. “Ideal Landing Spots: Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders.”

The Atlanta Falcons would make a good pairing, as Tillman has already played with their head coach Kevin Stefanski, when he was the Browns’ coach. In his rookie season, the Browns, under Stefanski, made a playoff appearance.

Could the two reunite? Do you think the Browns should consider the suggestions and indulge in this trade?
