"He's shot" - Browns urged to replace Deshaun Watson with Shedeur Sanders

After the Cleveland Browns started the season with a disastrous 34 - 10 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Deshaun Watson had a terrible game, his first start since 2024. The nightmare started in the first drive itself for Watson, who threw an interception on the first drive, and it was pretty much downhill from there for the Browns.

ESPN Cleveland's Tony Rizzo reacted to the game on The Tony Rizzo Show. The Cleveland media veteran implored to coach Monken to replace Deshaun Watson with Shedeur Sanders before the game against Tampa Bay. Rizzo said:

"You're gonna waltz him out there again? You have no chance to win. And I feel for Watson... he's shot, his confidence is shot. It's mental. It's a mental thing. He's not seeing the field. He's not trusting himself. At no point yesterday did I feel like we had a chance to win. Zero." (via ESPN Cleveland)

Deshaun Watson could start against Tampa Bay

Speaking after the Jaguars game, Browns HC Todd Monken refused to lay too much blame on QB Deshaun Watson for the loss, despite Watson's objectively dismal performance. Monken preferred to lay the blame for the loss on the team as a whole as well as the coaching staff.

Based on his comments, it looks unlikely that the Cleveland Browns will make a QB change for the Tampa Bay game.
