Browns Urged to Lure Justin Herbert to Cleveland Amid Chargers' Struggles

The Cleveland Browns could still be searching for their long-term answer at quarterback, despite some encouraging performances from Deshaun Watson. While Watson has shown flashes, questions remain about whether he can establish himself as Cleveland's franchise quarterback for the future.

That uncertainty has opened the door to speculation about potential alternatives. Nick Wilson of 92.3 The Fan believes the Browns should consider an ambitious target: Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.

Wilson sees an opportunity in the Chargers' struggles and the questions surrounding their organization. He hopes Cleveland could take advantage of the situation and convince Herbert that a fresh start in Ohio offers a better future.

"My great hope is...this is a dumb organization and the Browns can slide in and just be like, 'Justin Herbert, you're going to love Cleveland this time of year,'" Wilson said.

Wilson's suggestion is undoubtedly a long shot. Herbert remains a major figure in Los Angeles, and the Chargers would have little incentive to part with their franchise quarterback. Still, the idea highlights Cleveland's ongoing need to find a reliable long-term option under center.

The Browns have shown promise this season, but landing a quarterback of Herbert's caliber would represent a significant statement of intent. Whether Los Angeles would ever entertain such a move is another question entirely.

Justin Herbert could revolutionize the Browns' offense

Herbert would give Cleveland a proven franchise quarterback with a powerful arm, impressive mobility, and the ability to attack defenses at every level. His experience operating an NFL passing attack could also help the Browns develop greater consistency on offense.

Compared with Watson, Herbert offers a different long-term option at quarterback. His ability to make difficult throws and create explosive plays could give Cleveland's receivers more opportunities while raising the offense's ceiling.

However, acquiring Herbert would require a significant trade package, and the Chargers would have to consider moving their franchise quarterback. For now, Wilson's suggestion remains hypothetical, but it highlights the Browns' ongoing search for a long-term answer under center.
