Browns star K.C. Concepcion shares the golden rule behind his team-first mentality

Cleveland's offense needs its wide receivers to contribute beyond catching passes. Blocking can open running lanes, create space for teammates, and help turn a promising play into a touchdown.

For rookie wide receiver K.C. Concepcion, that responsibility stems from a lesson his father taught him early on. The message shaped how he approaches his role and what he expects of himself on the field.

Speaking to reporters after practice, Concepcion recalled the rule that guided his development:

“Growing up, my dad, he was pretty hard on me. I grew up with the term, 'If you don't block, you don't get the rock.'”

The saying reflects on the rookie's willingness to contribute without needing the ball in his hands. He understands that helping an offense succeed takes more than making catches, particularly when teammates need him to block:

“So that's just kind of my mentality when I step out there up on the field. I want to see my teammates win. So anything that I can do to help out a touchdown, I'm willing to do it.”

That mindset gives Concepcion a clear standard to follow as he adjusts to the demands of professional football. His priority remains helping Cleveland succeed, whatever the play requires.

Looking back at the Browns wide receiver's first four weeks in the NFL

K.C. Concepcion has made 17 catches for 144 yards through four NFL games, averaging 8.5 yards per reception. He has yet to score a receiving touchdown.

His best outing came in Week 4 against Pittsburgh, when he caught five passes for 64 yards. He also had six receptions for 28 yards in Week 2 against Tampa Bay.

His production has varied, but his willingness to block gives the rookie another way to help Cleveland's offense.
