Browns rookie KC Concepcion gets honest over franchise’s WR room
KC Concepcion is not holding back his thoughts on the Cleveland Browns’ upgraded wide receiver room during the offseason. This comes after the team bolstered their WR room by drafting KC Concepcion in the first round and Denzel Boston in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
“I think that this new wide receiver room, it can be dangerous,” said Concepcion on NFL Network’s The Insiders last week, as stated by Kevin Patra on NFL.com. “Everybody complements each other. Everybody is a different receiver.”
When the Browns drafted Concepcion and Boston, rumors spread that WR Jerry Jeudy’s run in Cleveland would come to an end. However, the Browns quickly moved to reassure fans: Jeudy stays, while Concepcion’s speed, quick cuts and run-after-catch ability will add to the offense’s strengths.
“I’m very, very comfortable. I’m confident,” said Concepcion as per NFL.com, when asked about adapting to a new NFL playbook under new head coach Todd Monken. “I know what I can do. Playbook-wise, the first two weeks, I had to learn it, I had to get used to the speed of the game. But honestly, now I’m all ready. I know the playbook and I’m just ready to play.”

Matthew Davis of Newsweek noted the Browns' receivers now face pressure to deliver after Concepcion's bold claim.
Davis added that during the 2025 season, the Browns didn’t have a 1,000-yard wide receiver. Their QBs relied on tight ends Harold Fannin Jr. and David Njoku.
Jeudy could do only 602 yards with 50 catches and two TDs. Cedric Tillman did 270 yards on 21 catches and two TDs. Similarly, Isaiah Bond registered 338 yards for 18 catches. Tylan Wallace only did 45 yards for four catches and a touchdown.
Davis concluded by saying that rookies KC and Boston are expected to make an immediate impact on their receiving corps and help their QBs during the 2026 season.
Concepcion reacts to the Shedeur Sanders-Deshaun Watson QB1 competition
The Browns' QB1 competition between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson remains unresolved as the training camp approaches in July. Concepcion spoke with NFL Network on 26 June about the ongoing battle between Sanders and Watson.
“Both of those guys, you know, are amazing people, amazing teammates, amazing quarterbacks,” said Concepcion in an interview with NFL Network, as published by Max Dible of heavy.com. “Everybody is fighting for a spot on the roster. So it’s going to be, you know, intriguing who comes away with it.”
Dible shared that fans and NFL insiders are speculating about how the battle would play out. One argument is that the Browns will hand the football to Sanders and let him earn the QB1 spot or lose it to Watson during the regular season.
Another aspect of the QB1 battle is that the Browns are alternating between Sanders and Watson and will use the first-round pick during the 2027 Draft to select their future franchise QB.
