Browns Reportedly Interested in QB Arrested Over Illegal Activity
The Browns are already in the spotlight concerning the QB1 battle brewing between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders.
If that wasn’t enough, new reports are emerging about the Browns’ interest in QB Brendan Sorsby, who is currently under investigation by the NCAA for sports b******.
“Would the Browns be interested if Brendan Sorsby opts for the NFL Supplemental Draft? via TLOD,” posted NFL analyst Tony Grossi on X.
Before the controversy surrounding him exploded, Sorsby was predicted to be one of the best quarterbacks in the coming year. But the ongoing investigation caused eligibility issues, making him a candidate who might enter the Supplemental Draft.
However, Brendan Sorsby's skills are undeniably elite, and it seems the Browns are looking to take full advantage of them.
“The Browns are among the teams putting in work on Sorsby, as per a source,” reported Grossi.
In the four seasons he spent at Indiana Hoosiers and Cincinnati Bearcats, Sorsby connected 594 of 968 passes. Plus, he had 60 touchdowns and just 18 interceptions.
Many NFL analysts believe that Sorsby could be the highest-selected player in a Supplemental Draft, provided he qualifies for it. Sports writer Billy Heven added that the other reason the Browns want to bring in Sorsby is to add depth to the team’s roster.
Legal issues may not bother the Browns much, considering they have previously taken chances on players like Watson, while the latter was facing off-the-field controversies.
Per NFL journalist Joe Schad, the other teams interested in Sorsby are the Jets, Cardinals, and the Dolphins. Schad’s update comes after sports journalist Albert Breer mentioned the possibility of a 2nd round pick for Sorsby in the future if he’s eligible.
If the Browns choose Sorsby, it’ll be interesting to see how his role pans out in a QB room that’s already crowded with Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and rookie Taylen Green.
Texas Tech QB Facing Eligibility Threat Due to B****** Scandal
According to sports news writer Sami Haider, the Texas Tech QB is currently under investigation for placing more than 10,000 b*** throughout his college career.
The 22-year-old reportedly placed a large number of b*** across multiple b****** platforms. The biggest concern arose when he placed a b** on an Indiana game while he was still with the team before his transfer to Cincinnati.
The NCAA has rules that strictly prohibit student-athletes from b****** on any NCAA-sanctioned sport. Failing to do so can get them suspended and/or declared ineligible permanently.
According to sports trending writer, John Leuzzi, Sorsby has reportedly checked into a residential treatment program on April 27 to help him overcome his g******* addiction.
Reportedly, Sorsby is trying his best to preserve his eligibility for the 2026 college football season. But seeing as a few teams are already interested in him, he may have a chance to play even if he ends up entering the Supplemental Draft.
