Browns QB Taylen Green Sends Strong Message on NFL Future

Taylen Green was the second-to-last pick the Cleveland Browns made in this year’s draft. As he joins the franchise, also known as the “graveyard of quarterbacks,” Green has full faith that he will do well despite his critics brushing him off.

“To be honest, I’ve been dealing with that all my life. In high school, people told me to switch positions or go to basketball,” Green said in an appearance on the Best Podcast Available. “As you can see, I’m tall, lengthy. I’ve been dealing with that all my life. I have a deep belief in myself that I’m a quarterback.”

Green has faced doubts about his position for years, and he’s still being questioned even after being drafted as a quarterback.

The Browns chose Green, an Arkansas dual-threat talent, as the 182nd overall pick. With his addition, the team has four options for a starting quarterback. The doubts surrounding Green are at odds with the capabilities he has shown so far.

The 23-year-old set new NFL Combine records for the future QBs to come. He recorded a 43.5-inch vertical jump and an 11'2" broad jump, and ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash. He surpassed the 2023 record held by Anthony Richardson.

Apart from Green’s elite athleticism, his performance on the collegiate level is solid, too. After an inactive freshman season in 2021 due to injuries, Green has shown steady improvement since his freshman year.

Green’s completion rate stands at 60.1% for 9,662 passing yards. He threw 59 touchdowns against 35 interceptions with his longest pass being 94.

The Browns ended the 2025 season with a 5-12 record, set to pick the right signal-caller for this season.  They might not have to look far, as Green also believes he’s one of a kind.

No Quarterback In The League Matches Taylen Green’s Stature

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 227 lbs, Taylen Green’s physicality, added with his NFL Combine performance, has caught a lot of attention. The quarterback recently revealed whether there’s any competition in this regard.

“To be honest, no,” Green said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “I would say of course Lamar [Jackson], but he ain’t 6′6″. Josh Allen is close, but I’m 230. He’s like 260. My dad says Randall Cunningham-ish. I really don’t think there’s anybody like me... just some confidence. There’s nobody that moves like me, that’s as tall as me.”

Baltimore Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson is a two-time MVP without a Super Bowl title and stands 6-foot-2 tall. Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen has one MVP honor and stands at 1.96 meters, weighing 237 lbs.

Green’s primary competition, however, is the Browns’ existing QB roster, with Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson, and Dillon Gabrie. Though this will be cleared out by June OTAs.
