For Cleveland, Deshaun Watson's $230 million deal has become synonymous with disappointment. Jimmy Haslam's "swing-and-miss" admission only fueled criticism, but after this year’s training camp, things might be a bit better for the veteran.

While having a one-on-one with reporters on Friday, Haslam was asked whether there was any chance for Watson to remain with the Browns beyond this year. The Browns owner expressed that there's a possibility.

"I think there are all kinds of possibilities out there — so, yes," Haslam said as to the possibility of Watson returning in 2027.

Deshaun Watson's contract is widely regarded as one of the NFL's worst. After playing just 19 of 68 games and suffering two Achilles injuries, his future remains uncertain. Still, Jimmy Haslam believes everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves.

"But here again, we've got to get through practice. I think our quarterbacks will play in the exhibition games, that's obviously [coach] Todd [Monken's] call, and then Todd will figure out who's going to start," said Jimmy Haslam in his conversation with the media, per Camryn Justice.

Deshaun Watson's future with the Browns may not be over just yet, but the possibility of his departure remains.

However, if he wins the starting job and delivers when it matters most, the Browns would have no reason to move on from him.

On top of that, Watson is only 30 and still has plenty of football left in him to revive his career, provided he can stay healthy.

Although Jimmy Haslam has made his stance on Watson clear, the veteran believes this year will be the perfect time to prove his worth.

Deshaun Watson optimistic about preseason

Injuries have been a real spoilsport for Deshaun Watson. The last good season the veteran had came back in 2022 when he was still with the Houston Texans.

Four years and multiple Achilles and shoulder injuries later, Watson remains optimistic about playing a full season.

“I haven't played football in a long time, so for me, it doesn't matter how long I play, how many games I play. I just want to play football," Watson said Saturday, per ESPN. "A lot of people wrote me off and said that I wouldn't be playing football again after two Achilles injuries. So I'm proving that wrong, and I'm proving myself right.”

Looking healthy, Watson has been a full participant throughout the Browns' OTAs, minicamp, and training camp. While there's still room for improvement with his throws, he finally looks like his old self again.
