Browns OC Tommy Rees Rallies Behind Jerry Jeudy Despite Concerns with Shedeur Sanders
In a press availability conference on Thursday, Cleveland Browns’ offensive coordinator Tommy Rees opened up on Jerry Jeudy. Rees said he loves Juedy’s presence and approach to the game
“I love what he brings to our group. I love what he approaches the game with,” he said.
Rees said the Browns still trust him even after his disappointing performances. He said, “Whether or not he's made every catch that we've asked him to make, we're still gonna trust him.”
Friction with Shedeur Sanders
According to SI reports, Jeudy had a heated argument with rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders for his performance against the San Fransico 49ers. He was angry at Sanders for lacking in practice, which reflected in the second half of the game. Sanders made one touchdown for 149 yards and was sacked thrice.
But why? Sanders isn’t the only one who has been disappointing. In 2025, Jeudy caught 40 passes for 519 yards and scored only two touchdowns. His average is 13 yards per reception, the second lowest of his six-year career. Against the Bears, Jeudy caught two passes for only 22 yards and dropped a possible touchdown that turned into an interception.
Rees Knows Juedy's Potential and strengths
However, Reese has shown he is capable of elevating Jeudy’s performance. When he took on the playcalling duties in November, Jerry caught six passes and scored one touchdown against the New York Jets. Jeudy’s strategies complement Rees’ skills that need to be tapped into.
“That’s why we still want to find ways to utilize his strengths. And every time the ball goes to Jerry, we have trust that it’s going to be a completion.”
With the quarterback shuffle, head coach Kevin Stefanski’s uncertain future, and several injuries, the Browns have had another bad year at 3-11. However, amidst this mess, Rees is confident about Jeudy, saying he has earned trust in all these years with the team.
“We have trust that he’s going to win. And that’s what Jerry has earned with us. And we want to continue to pour into him.”
Only the next season can prove whether that trust in Juedy is misplaced or not.
