While their QB1 dilemma may be far from over, Browns analyst Jake Burns identified 2027 NFL Draft quarterback prospects who could emerge as long-term options for the franchise.

Recently, during an interview with Browns Insider Dave Bacon, Burns discussed how the franchise could approach the quarterback position beyond the current competition.

“Yeah, there’s a lot of interesting names…,” said Burns to Bacon on Friday. “You get optimistic about what their future could bring... I at least feel really good about Arch and Dante.”

Burns identified Texas quarterback Arch Manning and Oregon's Dante Moore as the early standouts in the 2027 class before mentioning several other prospects he believes are worth monitoring.

Beyond Manning and Moore, Burns also mentioned LaNorris Sellers of South Carolina, Notre Dame's CJ Carr, USC's Jayden Maiava, and North Texas' Drew Mestemaker among the quarterbacks worth monitoring.

Browns insiders, Mary Kay Cabot and Dan Labbe, addressed the core QB concern in the Browns camp. Watson brings nearly a decade of NFL experience along with one of the league's largest contracts.

On the other hand, Shedeur Sanders has the upside with his momentum, fan following, and the value on his rookie deal.

Labbe shared that QB1 competition in Cleveland is under scrutiny, creating pressure on head coach Todd Monken and the Browns organization.

Cabot and Labbe agreed that Cleveland likely won't have a clear answer at quarterback until meaningful regular-season games begin.

NFL Insider addresses Shedeur Sanders trade rumors

As speculation around Cleveland's quarterback competition intensified, trade rumors involving Shedeur Sanders also began to circulate. NFL insider Tom Pelissero addressed these rumors and shared his definitive take on them. 

“Anything out there that they are looking to trade him, I would put zero stock in that,” said Pelissero on The Rich Eisen Show on 25 June. “If I had to make an educated guess, I’d say he and Deshaun Watson both are on the team in September.”

Max Dible of heavy.com shared that the trade discussions started following speculations that Watson’s OTA performance could land him in the QB1 spot. 

Cabot added that Cleveland's quarterback picture could continue evolving throughout the offseason, making any trade speculation premature until the regular season provides a clearer evaluation.
