Browns Linked With Ex-Ravens Star Ahead of 2026 NFL Season

The Cleveland Browns got what they wanted to fix their offense at the 2026 Draft. GM Andrew Berry used eight out of ten picks to bring in players for the offensive line. But sports columnist Zachary Pereles believes that the Browns still need more depth on their defense.

Pereles focused on cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis for the Browns. He said, “I’m not quite ready to give up on Armour-Davis, a former fourth-round pick, and he’s only 27, which could fit the Browns’ timeline if he proves helpful.”

“The Browns had a fantastic draft and addressed their biggest needs, offensive line and wide receiver, with both quality and quantity," Pereles added.

He also mentioned that the defense is expected to be one of the team’s strengths, but also pointed out that the depth at outside cornerback looks thin behind Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell.

Jalyn Armour-Davis started his NFL journey with the Baltimore Ravens in 2022. He was drafted in the fourth round, as the overall 119th pick.

After three seasons with the Ravens (2022-2024), he was waived and then signed by the Tennessee Titans as their cornerback in 2025. However, an Achilles tendon injury cut his previous season short.

In four seasons, Armour-Davis recorded 54 total tackles (30 solo), two tackles for loss, and four passes defended.

Pereles believes that Armour-Davis is an overlooked prospect whom the Browns can add at a low projected price. He is confident that cornerback Armour-Davis will be a “nice fit” for defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg’s defense at the Browns, alongside Ward and Campbell.

For Armour-Davis, this could be that long-awaited chance to revive his NFL career.

Why Experts Believe Browns Still Need Help at Cornerback

As per Justin Hussong, sportswriter at Browns Nation, the depth behind cornerbacks Ward and Campbell at the Browns still needs to be addressed.

Recently, Mary Kay Cabot, an inside reporter for the Browns, also shared a clip on X. In the post, Campbell shared about his dynamic with Ward and their plans as they head into the 2026 season.

With the departure of Martin Emerson Jr., a key cornerback for the Browns, Ernesto Cova of Dawg Pound Daily says that there is "little-to-no depth" left.

Thus, Zachary Pereles thinks that the team should consider Jalyn Armour-Davis. But what are your thoughts about this? Let us know in the comments.
