Cleveland Browns legend Joe Thomas talked about rookie QB Shedeur Sanders

Pointing to his recent performances on Fox News, Thomas believes Sanders can give the Browns some hope to be Super Bowl contenders, not in this season but in the future.

"Obviously, having your receivers hold up their end of the bargain and catching the football and completing those plays, but just seeing Shedeur out there, seeing him make those big plays, seeing him take that team down the field in the two-minute drill, that would go a long way for giving Browns fans the feeling that this is the guy and giving them comfort that this franchise is in really good hands with him at quarterback. So that's what I'm hoping that we find the rest of the season."

Looking at his last game against the Chicago Bears, there's some sense to what Thomas is saying. Despite 177 yards, Sanders wasn't able to get a score. Even the close touchdown opportunity was lost by a Jerry Jeudy error. And despite this, he's shown flashes of brilliance.

Sanders, a fifth-round pick, has elevated the Browns with expected plays. His 52-yard deep pass to Isiah Bond in Week 12 shook everyone. Two weeks later, Sanders scored three touchdowns, threw a 58-yard pass, and threw a 60-yard touchdown pass against the Titans. 

But how can Shedeur Sanders transform the Browns into a Super Bowl team?

It's no secret that the Browns a draft choice confusion. But just as Thomas mentioned, if they invest in their offensive line and bolster the wide receivers, they could form a strong core around their rookie.

“Browns then can use their two first-round draft choices to build around him and then make him the starter throughout the offseason and into training camp and really give him every opportunity to win that job,” he said. 

Like Thomas, many are betting on him, hoping the franchise is in really good hands with him at quarterback.
