ESPN Cleveland raised that possibility by asking Tony Grossi whether the newly arrived Monken could become a one-and-done head coach for the Browns.

The Browns insider strongly rejected that idea and said that Monken was there to do a very specific job and would return even if Cleveland endures a disastrous season.

"I'm going to say he's not going to be one-and-done no matter what. That he was hired ostensibly to help find the next quarterback. Yeah, so if it goes 1 and 16, I say he comes back."

Grossi believes Todd Monken's involvement in finding Cleveland's next quarterback could strengthen his job security. The Browns may look beyond Monken's first-season record when evaluating his future.

Even a 1-16 campaign would not change Grossi's prediction. He expects the Browns to give Monken time to work on the quarterback situation and build the team around their next potential franchise passer.
