Browns Insider Says Jimmy Haslam Needs to Fire Andrew Berry to Convince John Harbaugh
If Jimmy Haslam, the Browns owner, is determined to revamp his team from a bottom-ranker to a winner, he might need to make another tough decision.
After the Browns fired their former head coach, they’re on a mission to bring an experienced and proven leader to their locker room. And John Harbaugh might be it. But what if general manager Andrew Berry might need to leave?
Browns expert Matt Verderame opined that Haslam must fire Berry if that is what it takes to bring Harbaugh on board. In an episode of 92.3 The Fan, Verderame shared that the franchise should make as many adjustments as possible to benefit from the offensive experience Harbaugh has.
Although Haslam praised Berry and retained him over Stefanski, his contributions are inconsequential in this scenario.
“The obvious answer is Harbaugh. If I'm the Browns, I'm giving that guy what he wants. That includes, if he wants to be in charge of personnel decisions, then Andrew Berry can go find another job,” he stated.
Host Spencer German said he agreed with Verderame’s stance, given his prior success with the Ravens. Verderame was also confused over why Berry even has his job and stated that he should not be a hindrance in the hiring process.

With Harbaugh, the Ravens remained a strong team. In his 18-year stint, they won over 193 games, including playoffs. Of the 12 playoff appearances they made, the Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII and raised their second Lombardi Trophy. Verderame, keeping these points in mind, advocated for Harbaugh’s any possible demands, even if they sound outlandish.
“John Harbaugh is a really good coach. He’s got a ring on his finger, he’s been incredibly successful, obviously knows the division. I am letting Andrew Berry get in the way of me hiring John Harbaugh. Period,” he said firmly.
Harbaugh Poses A Threat To Shedeur Sanders Too
In the 2025 NFL draft, the rookie had already slipped to the fifth round when his representation shared Sanders’ message to the Ravens: “Don’t pick me.”
If things fall through with Harbaugh, wouldn’t the first interaction between Sanders and him be awkward? After all, the rookie refused to be benched in his initial years and watch Lamar Jack play. How will he adapt to a new environment with a head coach he earlier rejected?
Things can head south quickly, given the effects Sanders had on Stefanski’s public image this season. And a big reason for Harbaugh’s dismissal was the issues Jackson, his former quarterback, had with him.
While many, including Berry, thought he was safe, tides might soon turn against him. But only if Haslam wants them too. What do you think?
