Browns insider reveals the most impressive aspect of Cleveland's 3-1 start
The Cleveland Browns have won three straight games after opening the season with a loss, putting them at 3-1 in the first four weeks. Their early success has raised questions about what has changed in Cleveland.
Speaking on ESPN Cleveland's The Really Big Show, Browns insider Tony Grossi was asked what had impressed him most about the team's start. He pointed to head coach Todd Monken's work specifically with quarterback Deshaun Watson:
“I would have to say, Monken's ability to get good football out of Deshaun Watson."
Grossi believes the quarterback's progress deserves recognition alongside the coach's influence. He stressed that their collaboration, rather than either man's efforts alone, explains why the partnership had stood out:
"And that's a credit to both of them, but I think they are a tandem. I don't think you can not credit both of them for the way they're working together.”
The Browns' 3-1 start has given Monken and Watson an encouraging foundation to build on. Their continued success could prove crucial as Cleveland looks to sustain its early-season momentum.
Todd Monken's impact on the Browns goes beyond the QB1
Deshaun Watson's efficiency offers an early sign of progress under Todd Monken. Through four games, Watson has completed 69.8% of his passes for 855 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions, with a 101.18 passer rating.
Meanwhile, Cleveland's defense has also responded since allowing 34 points in the opener. Against Pittsburgh in Week 4, the unit recorded five sacks and two interceptions in a 27-24 win. Defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg has adjusted the scheme, helping the Browns become more effective on that side of the ball.
