Browns Insider Reveals Shedeur Sanders Future Uncertain as QB Decisions Loom
Th NFL draft is just a few weeks ago, and the Cleveland Browns still haven't solved their quarterback problem.
Amidst Shedeur Sanders’ struggles to earn the starting quarterback position in the 2026 season, a new development could be taking form within the management.
Browns expert and reporter Mary Kay Cabot recently wrote that the management is inclined to pick Ty Simpson, but nothing is concrete yet.
“The Browns like Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, but it remains to be seen if they like him enough to take him in the first round, where he’s likely to go,” she reported.
“Simpson has started only 15 games, all last season, but exhibited some tantalizing traits, including quick processing, accuracy, arm strength, and mobility.”

While both Simpson and NCAA champion Fernando Mendoza are touted to be first-round picks, Simpson’s success at the collegiate level is noteworthy.
In the 2024 season, his program, the Alabama Crimson Tide, ranked at no.17 with a 9-4 record, but moved upwards to the ninth rank with an 11-4 record. Moreover, the quarterback had an absolute run in the 2025 season. He scored 28 touchdowns for 3,567 yards and threw only five interceptions.
Sanders on the other hand, played only 8 games in his rookie season. He threw for 1,400 passing yards and scored 7 touchdowns.
With Simpson being one of the top prospects, the question now is: should Sanders be scared of losing his starting spot?
Ty Simpson Has Always Posed a Major Threat to Shedeur Sanders
The 23-year-old has neither shied away from stating his desire to play under Browns head coach Todd Monken nor their history.
Most recently, during his appearance on The Up and Adams Show, he shared that Monken recruited him to the Georgia Bulldogs.
He also raved about Monken’s success both in Georgia and Southern Mississippi and mentioned the friendship Monken and his father share.
“First off, he recruited me at Georgia. Had a great relationship with him, and you know, him coaching at Southern Miss, him and my dad got to know each other pretty well. So, I’ve known him for a long time,” Simpson gushed.
After the consecutive poor results, primarily because of injuries, an unstable quarterback roster, and a strained relationship between the quarterbacks and head coach, Simpson’s energy is precisely what the team needs.
The Browns could either pick him as their 5th or 24th choice or give Sanders another chance. While the management’s plans remain unknown, share your take on this insight in the comments.
