Browns GM Gearing up for Shocking Myles Garrett Trade Decision, Claims Reporter
The Cleveland Browns’ proposal to change the rule about trading draft picks has sparked rumors about their star player, Myles Garrett.
While fans are deeply upset about the proposal and even called general manager Andrew Berry “desperate” to save his job, experts are in awe.
Anthony Lima, a Browns expert, recently appeared on the after segment of 92.3 The Fan and said this is about the defensive end.
“I think there's a method to his madness. I think this is about a Myles Garrett trade. I think he wants to land one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history,” he told the hosts.
According to the Browns, if the NFL rule permits a draft pick to be traded for three years is changed to five years, it would “provide clubs with greater roster-building flexibility.”
However, this development has piqued speculation about Garrett’s trade. For a while now, the NFL community has discussed that such a trade is inevitable.
After all, the 31-year-old addressed his franchise and fans in an open letter demanding it in the 2025 preseason.
Garrett, who has always outperformed expectations and his team, is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year. While he set the new NFL record for most sacks by a player in a season with 23 sacks, the Browns ended with a 5-12 record because of the dysfunctional offense.
Despite Doubts, Berry Knows What He Is Attempting
The Browns’ defense was one of the best in the last season, thanks to the boasted breakout rookie stars handpicked by Berry.
The 2025 draft class in terms of defense was a raging success with Carson Schwesinger and Mason Graham, who led with 146 tackles and shared a sack with Garrett, respectively.
He has ensured to pick defensive players who were sure to become great, such as Grant Delpit and Alex Wright.
Berry’s proposal seems like a calculated move that, if accepted, would give him access to many choices. While losing Garrett would be a huge setback, especially after unit coordinator Jim Schwartz’s resignation, Berry could bring in many competent players to make up for it.
However, there is a chance that Berry’s proposal would be outright rejected.
How many players can guarantee Garrett’s caliber? Moreover, when the Browns retained the edge rusher with a four-year, $160 million extension, there was no tug-of-war for Garrett. So until Garrett signs with a new team, the buzz around his trade is that it is: buzz.
Berry could have planned for the unforeseeable future either way, prompting Lima’s comments. The Browns’ team is changing, and whether it includes Garrett is to be seen.
