Browns GM Andrew Berry Aims at Major O-Line Improvement For Upcoming Season

The Browns did end thier season with a 20-18 win over the Bengals, but the O-line failed to protect Shedeur Sanders again as Cincinnati sacked him six times. GM Anderw Berry has taken notice.

During the press conference on Monday, the Browns' general manager was asked about the team's offensive line, and he spoke about fixing it.

"It's no secret that that's where (offense) we're going to invest most of our resources this offseason...Um, the offensive line, that's a position group that I do imagine will have a fair amount of turnover as we go into 2026," said the Browns GM.

The Browns' OL was among the worst this season, allowing 51 sacks, the 7th highest in the season. Joe Flacco was sacked 9 times in 4 games, Dillion Gabirel 19 times in 10 games, and with Sheduer Sanders, things went as bad as 23 times in 8 games.

Sanders faced pressure on about 46% of his drop-backs this season. It is the highest rate since tracking began in 2009. And while one might not see the stats, the NFL experts made sure everybody knew how bad this OL was.

Browns' legend Joe Thomas said, "If you want to be able to build a strong, dominant offensive line, you just gotta take a lot of shots (in the draft)…that’s something the Browns haven’t really done a whole lot of,"

Even the Browns' OL coach Mike Bloomgren said, "This has been the most challenging year of my career; don't think I can put into words the impact Joel Bitonio has had on the room."

Bintonio was one of the positives about the OL, but one man doesn't make the team. It is very important that Andrew Berry makes some big investments in the OL in the 2026 NFL draft and the trade after that.

But will Andrew Berry carry on with the same QB?

The question that everybody has been asking for what feels like forever now: Will Shedeur Sanders be the starting QB for the Browns in the next season?

Well, the GM did praise the rookie QB, calling him a "work in progress." He appreciated his playmaking, his accuracy, and his ability to extend with his feet.

But he also said, "We’re going to do our work on the quarterback market. It’s too important of a position, and it’s something that has to be solidified. I can’t sit here and tell you today whether the solution for, or the starter in 2026, is internal or external."

With Stefanski fired, he added that the new head coach will also have a say in it. The Browns now hold the 6th pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Fernando Mendoza is a name they can go for if the Raiders do not pick him first. Dante Moore is another rookie they can bring.

However, with Deshaun Watson recovering, there's a good chance that Sanders may move to the backup QB position. So from the O-Line to thier QBs, it's safe to say the Browns have a lot ot fix.
