Browns GM Accused of Personal Bias That Could Affect Shedeur Sanders

An NFL insider believes Andrew Berry's decisions are affecting quarterback Shedeur Sanders' performance. Analyst Mary Kay Cabot thinks the Cleveland Browns GM is being partial toward wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

In Thursday’s episode of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Cabot suggested that the Browns need to add more wide receivers if they want Sanders to shine.

“Andrew really likes, we know he likes Jerry Jeudy. He really likes Isiah Bond, but I just don’t think they can lead up at that position yet. So, somehow, someway, they've got to add to the pile. They've got to add to that room if they want their quarterback to be successful.”

Much of Browns' woes in the 2025 season have been down to the quarterbacks. earlier in the season, they had started veteran Joe Flacco, who had a 1-3 win-loss record, and youngster Dillon Gabriel, who had an even more lackluster 2-6 record.

However, Sanders, formerly benched as the QB 4, was thrust on the field after Gabriel was out with an injury. He logged a 3-4 win-loss record for the Browns after starting the last seven matches of the season.

Cabot thinks that for Sanders to improve, he needs better wide receivers to receive the ball.

In the 2025 season, Jeudy made 50 receptions for 602 yards and scored only two passing touchdowns. In contrast, the 21-year-old Bond made 18 receptions out of 44 targets for 338 yards. He did not manage to score a single touchdown.

If the Browns Want to Improve, They Need Players With Better Synergy

Sanders and Jeudy once had a massive argument over the game plan in public, and that is not a sign of a well-gelled team.

During their game against the San Francisco 49ers in December 2025, the two got into a heated spat on the sidelines. The disagreement and lack of camaraderie spilled over in the humiliating 26-8 loss on home turf.

In separate interviews, both players assured that they have patched things over, with Jeudy claiming, "We spoke about it. We’re good. It’s an emotional sport. Things happen in football."

However, poor performances will only cause further strain.

Sanders, or anyone who becomes the QB1, needs reliable receivers who can support the team better. And Sanders believes the management needs to move quickly to fix this glaring issue.
