The QB1 competition between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson caught the attention of a legendary former Browns quarterback, Bernie Kosar. He recently expressed support for Sanders to become the Browns’ starting QB.

Kosar posted on X this Saturday, praising the 24-year-old quarterback.

“Hope everyone is having a great weekend,” wrote Kosar. “Great spending time with the talented Shedeur Sanders, an outstanding young man with a bright future ahead. His work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence are what Game Changers are all about.”

This isn't the first time that Kosar has publicly supported and praised Sanders. In a conversation with Yahoo! Sports Daily nearly two weeks back, the former QB offered an endorsement for Sanders. 

“For Shedeur to come in as a rookie with a really limited talent roster around him offensively, he certainly made plays,” said Kosar. “He deserves to be in the mix, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shedeur get this opportunity early if he doesn’t come out as the Game 1 starter.”

Kosar noted that the Browns roster was devoid of talent in 2025 and was impressed with Sanders’ performance in his rookie year, despite the lack of support around him.

Last season, Sanders debuted in Week 11 and finished with a record of 3-4, completing 56.6% of his passes for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns.

The endorsement from the 1980s franchise icon resonated deeply with the fan base following their weekend meeting.

Following Bernie Kosar’s update, fans flocked to X to share their reactions to the Browns’ former QB and current QB linkup. 

One fan thanked Kosar for publicly backing the rookie quarterback and pointed to the inspiration he has provided.

Another fan appeared convinced that Sanders should be Cleveland's starting quarterback, calling for him to take over the QB1 role.
