Browns Fans Make Frustrations Known Over Recent Ty Simpson Links

Apr 10, 2026, 2:42 AM CUT

The NFL Draft discussions in Cleveland Browns have reached a point that creates discomfort for fans. The reason behind the frustration is Ty Simpson, the quarterback, fresh out of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Already burdened with three quarterback choices, the Browns fans expressed their frustration.

The NFL analyst Je'Rod Cherry confirmed Simpson's actual abilities as a player through his analysis of the Alabama quarterback's footage.

"That's a h*** of a throw right there, outside the shoulder in the position where the DB can make a play on the b***," he shared on X through ESPN Cleveland.

Cherry pointed out how the Alabama quarterback throws where it's safe, even when the coverage is tight. Also, he shows football IQ and command while reading the defense and adjusting the blocking assignments.

Simpson has been on Cleveland's radar throughout the entire pre-draft process. That's because Todd Monken and he share a link. The head coach tried to recruit the quarterback out of high school when he was the offensive coordinator in Georgia.

“Really fond of Ty, obviously a really good football player,” the Cleveland head coach said. “Fired up for him because in today’s day and age, for him to stay as long as he did at Alabama and then get a chance to be the starting quarterback is pretty cool.”

Simpson stands 6'1" tall and weighs 211 pounds, which has signaled some worry among pro scouts. He only performed in 15 starting college games.

Since 2010, Cam Newton stands as the only player who has achieved multiple Pro Bowl selections from the group of four first-round quarterbacks who played 15 or fewer college games.

The fanbase reacted strongly to ESPN analyst Bill Barnwell's proposal that the Browns should use their No. 39, No. 70, and No. 149 draft picks to trade up and select Simpson at No. 32.

Cleveland Browns Fans Draw the Line on Simpson Talk

The Browns need to address their wide receiver and offensive tackle positions while spending 63 million dollars on their three first-round draft selections. "I guess Shadeur has never thrown a back-shoulder before. smh," a fan made an ironic comment. It stated that they are happy with Shedeur.

Simpson's 15 college starts offer a limited sample size. "Cleveland is absolutely obsessed with quarterbacks, and it is exhausting," said another frustrated fan. Doubts prevail whether Simpson's highlighted throws justify first-round draft capital when stronger quarterbacks remain available in this class.

It is difficult for fans to accept another quarterback discussion. "Just find another team to draft....why you messing with the Browns?" read another reaction. The Browns have used 25 quarterbacks since 2012 because they have started eight rookie quarterbacks.

Cleveland will have to give up three first-round draft choices, which include picks 39, 70, and 149, to complete their trade for Simpson. "Waste of a pick," a user commented bluntly.  The Browns' completely shifting quarterback travesty has cost them victories and draft picks.

So, the fans are requesting that the new management not follow the same path.
