The 29-year-old signed a 4-year contract worth of $54.75 million in 2022 and ended in 2025. He is now set to become a free agent for the first time in his career.
Njoku joined in 2017 and spent nine seasons in Cleveland. In 118 games, he scored a total of 34 receiving touchdowns for 4,062 yards. His peak came in the 2023 season, where he earned his first Pro Bowl selection.
Cleveland's owner, Jimmy Haslam, and GM Andrew Berry decided to look towards the future. With Njoku missing the final four games due to a knee injury, young talent Harold Fannin Jr. emerged and has ultimately made Njoku expendable.
The news of Njoku's departure has puzzled fans, and they have a lot of different emotions.
