Browns Fans Demand 3 First-Round Draft Picks for Potential Myles Garrett Trade
Myles Garrett has been a cornerstone of the Cleveland Browns since they picked him first overall in 2017. However, recent developments have made his future with the Browns uncertain, and a new, hypothetical trade proposal has created buzz.
“Would it be worth it to trade Garrett for three first-round picks, plus a little more, in the near future if it would guarantee that the Browns get their quarterback of the future?” Dawgs By Nature asked on May 29.
The 30-year-old star defensive end admitted he wanted to be traded in 2025. He signed a $140 million, four-year extension, but the Browns restructured his contract in March this offseason. Under the modified language, Garrett’s option bonus for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 league years will be called in to exercise seven days before the regular season.
Garrett moved $8 million of his 2029 and 2030 base salary into roster bonuses. The new financial arrangement has not only created more cap space for the Browns but also made trading Garrett easier.
Additionally, his absence in the offseason and the pending meeting with the franchise’s new head coach, Todd Monken, are concerning. Noting these developments, Abby Mueler weighed in on the speculation that the Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles engage in a trade after the Eagles get a first-round pick for WR AJ Brown.
Garrett, a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time Defensive Player of the Year, is coming off the season of his career so far. He set the record for most sacks in a season with 23 last season. However, he expressed his Super Bowl ambitions and wanted out from the franchise.
While Garrett has been integral to the team, fans made a verdict on the cost of losing an elite edge rusher against the chance for a future championship.
Cleveland Browns Ready To Part Ways With Myles Garrett Under Set Conditions
Under an article posted on May 29 by Dawgs By Nature, fans expressed their take on edge rusher Garrett’s departure from the Cleveland Browns for three first-round picks.
While Garrett has been commendable in his career so far, the Browns have gone beyond play off appearance. Keeping Garrett’s success in mind, one fan agreed for trade.
“I would trade Garrett for 3 first round picks. The team hasn't won anything with him. The QB crop of 2027 has at least 3 top talents available in Manning, Sayin, & Moore. Maybe they can finally find a franchise player at that position for the first time in 35 years,” one fan commented.
“Yes , For 3 first round picks and player to be named… who would not do this, Nobody !!! If Joe Montana, Paul Warfield, Tom Brady, everybody, can be traded or let go for various reasons so can Garett,” another noted, citing examples of NFL legends.
“Of course I'd trade Garratt for 3 first rounders. Football is a team game. We didn't lose 12 games last season because of bad QB play. We lost 12 games because the O-Line was terrible and the WRs couldn't separate or catch,” wrote another.
However, one fan was not convinced.
“if it "guaranteed" Cleveland gets its franchise QB was the hypothetical question,” they replied.
Another replied asked for players from the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Garett for Mahomes and 2 first rounders from KC and I am in,” they wrote.
