Browns Expert Gets Honest Over Andrew Berry's Future Following Todd Monken Hiring
Andrew Berry’s future has been a point of contention for a while now. And as the Cleveland Browns continue to evaluate themselves, experts believe that Berry might be shown the exit soon.
Earlier this week, Daryl Ruiter and Nick Pedone discussed the work new head coach Todd Monken has to put in to improve the offense and the future of the Browns’ general manager on 92.3 The Fan.
Nick Pedone had a simple answer. "If things go bad, it probably means the draft class was bad. It probably means your offensive line was bad, your receivers were bad and your quarterbacks, whether it was Deshaun or Shedeur or Gabriel, or if they go down the Malik Willis route or whatever that might look like. It means that all that went bad and Andrew Berry should be held liable too.
And his opinion holds ground. The Browns are the third-worst offense in the NFL, currently at 30th place out of 32 teams. Compared to their elite defensive plays, the offense has been a liability for years. And it's not just a matter of a single season's trades.
In the past few years, the Browns let go of Baker Mayfield to make space for Watson, traded Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals, their division rivals, and were caught up in the worst quarterback rotation in the NFL.
2025 rookies Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel were underwhelming on the field. And while the 2025 Draft class with the likes of Harold Fannin Jr., Quinshon Judkins, and Dylan Sampson were added to the team, it cannot change the cascading failures of the last few years.
But it's not all bad news for the Browns.
Can the Browns Improve Their Offense?
Bringing Todd Monken on as the head coach might just be the way to go. He helped Lamar Jackson win his second MVP title and elevated the Ravens' passing game.
It was why Pedone asked if Monken would be offered a grace period to prove himself. To which Ruiter said: “This is gonna be a two-year process at least, to get that offence together. Andrew Berry’s on record saying numerous times, and he’s right. ‘You can’t fix everything in one off-season,’ okay.”
The Browns have their work cut out for them. Strengthen the offensive line, bring better wide receivers, and add an option to the quarterback role is you don't plan to keep any of the current members on the team.
