Browns Expecting Myles Garrett to Honor contract amidst Trade Rumors

Myles Garrett requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns after a disappointing 3-14 season, in search of the Super Bowl ring.

The 29-year-old made it clear that he didn’t want to sit through another build-up. However, owner Jimmy Haslam refused to meet with him and asked general manager Andrew Berry to handle the negotiation.

Well, Garrett signed a huge four-year extension with $123.5 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Although he broke Michael Strahan and T. J. Watt’s sack record in the 2025 season with 23 sacks, Cleveland once again failed to qualify for the playoffs with a 5-14 record.

Now, after the Browns announced Todd Monken as the new head coach, the rumors have once again surfaced about Garrett’s future, as he sent a cryptic post on social media. He has been vocal about wanting the Browns’ defensive coordinator, Jim Schwartz, to become the head coach.

According to the Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot, if the Texas native requests a trade again, the organization has made it clear that their stance won’t change.

“They don’t expect Garrett to ask to be traded, but if he does, the answer will be ‘no,’ just like it was last year when he asked out to try to win a Super Bowl elsewhere," Cabot said.

Myles Garrett will not play the Pro Bowl

Myles Garrett earned his seventh Pro Bowl selection this season, due to his historic performance.

However, the 29-year-old won't be playing in the Pro Bowl. In the most recent roster distributed by the NFL, Garrett was no longer there. From Browns, only Shedeur Sanders and Denzel Ward were present.

According to Mary Kay Cabot stated that he would still be present at the NFL Honors ceremony, where he is favorite to win the Defensive Player of the Year award.

About not playing in the Pro Bowl, Garrett's opinion was straightforward.

“Jumping over walls and fences … doesn’t make sense to me,” Garrett said. “It’s just frustrating. But, by the time the season rolls around, I don’t think it will be an issue.”

After suffering a toe injury during one of the events, the Browns' defensive end retired from the Pro Bowl.
