Since November, Brandon Aiyuk has tormented the San Francisco 49ers through his social media jabs, convinced that teams are lining up to have him. However, as July begins, NFL insider Matt Maiocco has come forward to show him the reality.

Coach Yac X, via X, shared revelations from NBC NFL correspondent Matt Maiocco's recent YouTube podcast surrounding Brandon Aiyuk, where he said the WR is confident the Washington Commanders will sign him, but for now, it remains purely speculation.

“He’s talking about the day the 49ers release him, he’ll be signing with the Commanders the next day," said Maiocco as per Coach Yac on X. "I just can’t imagine them going all in for Brandon, and for him to say he will sign with the Commanders, is he just speculating because one of his very good friends, Jayden Daniels, is the quarterback of the Commanders?”

According to Matt, San Francisco will expect to pursue a portion of the money already paid to Aiyuk, while the exact figure remains unclear, Matt estimates that the team could recover somewhere between $13.8 million and $18.4 million.

After back to back 1,000+ yard seasons in 2022 and 2023, Aiyuk only managed 374 yards in 2024 in seven outings, and missed the 2025 season due to a severe knee injury and contract dispute.

The post also spoke about how there were “people within the organization who thought that Brandon Aiyuk didn’t want to play football anymore.” As per Matt, this action in itself might have cautioned the teams.

While the 49ers have not set a date for his release, T.J. Ward has poured cold water on his Commanders dream.

Brandon Aiyuk's back-to-back social media posts about the 49ers have raised concerns around the league, and while the star receiver is eyeing a reunion with Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, T. J. Ward believes Washington is unlikely to make a move for him.

“I don’t give a damn if he shared a womb with Jayden Daniels," said Ward as per Speakeasy. "You ain’t coming over here, and that’s just 100. If I’m the GM, you could have come out, you know, said the same thing, and I’m not bringing you over here. Look at you, bro, you’re acting a fool. You doing all this, you were driving past the stadium, about to get a reckless driving."

The former Arizona Cardinals safety suggested that Aiyuk's decision to cuss out his own team could backfire, with other teams potentially viewing him negatively.

"You’re throwing money around," Ward further stated. "You talking bad about the 49ers. These owners are a club. I don’t care if there are 32 different teams; that’s a club in itself. We have 32 billionaire owners. We mob, and we move as one."

For now, it's quite unclear whether the Commanders would sign the Wide Receiver or not. Earlier reporters suggested that Washington was monitoring Aiyuk's situation but there's been no active updates from the front office.
