Brandon Aiyuk Faces Arrest Warrant on Misdemeanor Charge After Posting Video of Him Breaking the Rules

A video posted over six months ago has landed Brandon Aiyuk in legal trouble. The San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver is charged with a misdemeanor for exhibition of speeding, as reported by ESPN.

“The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office issued a warrant for the arrest of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on a misdemeanor charge of exhibition of speeding,” Adam Schefter posted on X on June 4.

The warrant is issued over a video Aiyuk posted on YouTube in December 2025, testing the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. As per ESPN, the DA’s office confirmed that Aiyuk was seen exceeding the speed limit. At one point, he was driving at the speed of 104 miles per hour past Levi's Stadium.

The 28-year-old appeared to be recording himself from the driver’s seat. A few days after posting the video, Aiyuk apologized for driving on Tasman Drive, which is outside of the 49ers’ home field.

“Sorry ya’ll, my car content won't come with speeding anymore,” Aiyuk wrote in a post to YouTube. “Was praying with my son tonight and wouldn’t want anybody else to miss out on an opportunity to do the same with their loved ones! My apologies.”

Following the speeding incident, the Santa Clara Police Department had suggested that it would investigate whether Aiyuk would face any criminal charges. The case was eventually forwarded to the DA’s office on January 15.

Apart from the legal issues, the video also raised questions about Aiyuk’s status on the team.

Brandon Aiyuk’s Fallout With The SF 49ers And Trade Rumors

According to the Commanders’ Wire, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been rumored to sign with the Washington Commanders. Last year, the 49ers general manager, John Lynch, confirmed that Aiyuk would not be returning for the 2026 season. They have not released him yet.

In October 2024, Brandon Aiyuk sustained an ACL and MCL injury, which proved to be season-ending. He sat out on the 2025 season entirely, and the San Francisco 49ers’ management voided approx. $28 million on his guaranteed contract.

The injury fundamentally altered the relationship between Aiyuk and the team. In a conversation, tight end George Kittle revealed the rift between the team and Aiyuk.

“The last I saw Aiyuk, he was kinda at training camp, kinda not. I don’t know what’s going on with Brandon,” Kittle said on Bussin’ With The Boys podcast. “He didn’t go into the locker room or the training room anymore. He would just go to the weight room to do his rehab.”

The 49ers are free to trade Aiyuk now that June 1 has passed and spread out the dead cap across two years.
