Brandon Aiyuk Continues to Troll 49ers with Latest Washington Commanders Claim

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has once again fueled speculation about his future after posting a video directing fans to the Washington Commanders' website to buy tickets for his upcoming appearances.

Ari Meirov, NFL insider from MySportsUpdate, was one of the first to notice the escalation on X.

"Brandon Aiyuk now posts a video announcing he's 'back on tour' and that tickets to come see him can be found on the Washington Commanders website. Aiyuk is still a member of the 49ers. The trolling continues," Meirov wrote via X.

The post marked Aiyuk's latest public message hinting at a possible move away from San Francisco, even though no trade has materialized.

Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million extension with San Francisco after a breakout 2023 campaign in which he caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.

According to Christian D'Andrea of For The Win, Aiyuk tore his ACL and MCL in October 2024, ending his season on the spot. Things got complicated from there. He missed mandatory rehab sessions, which prompted the franchise to void his guaranteed $25 million, citing lack of participation.

He chose not to file a grievance and eventually went silent with team officials altogether. In 2025, he was placed on the PUP list and missed the entire season.

Aiyuk also posted a video of himself throwing a large amount of money, interpreted by many to be a general mocking of San Francisco for the voided guarantees.

Aiyuk's recent posts have also drawn attention from league insiders, including ESPN's Adam Schefter, who questioned how teams around the NFL may view the receiver's public behavior.

Schefter claimed the Commanders, among other teams, are beginning to question Aiyuk's self-control and how he will act when responding to challenges as a player on the new team.

Adam Schefter Questions Brandon Aiyuk's Approach

On Wednesday, Adam Schefter addressed the issue on his podcast and offered a blunt assessment.

"He [Aiyuk] thinks he's helping the situation. I don't believe that to be the case. In speaking with teams, everybody’s saying, 'What’s wrong with this guy right now?' It’s unsettling to watch him. It’s scary to see how he’s handling himself."

Schefter also had a pointed observation about where Aiyuk's loyalty seemingly lies.

"By the way, he’s still a member of the 49ers organization, the team that paid him, and still, he’s saying, 'Go Commanders,' which clearly is the team he'd like to go play for," Schefter added.

Some NFL insiders have suggested Aiyuk's recent actions could hurt his trade value. Others also questioned the financial impact of Aiyuk's approach.

"He's lighting money on fire, is what he's doing, every time he puts an Instagram video out," Fowler said, per Bleacher Report.

For now, Aiyuk remains with San Francisco, but his recent social media activity signals where he wants to play next.
