Bo Nix Reveals the Broncos' Secret Weapon That the Chiefs Will Struggle With
The Denver Broncos are preparing for a difficult season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. However, Bo Nix believes Sean Payton's team has a secret weapon that could give them an advantage.
That weapon is offensive coordinator Davis Webb. Webb has spent several years around Bo Nix, giving the quarterback a strong understanding of his offensive philosophy. That familiarity could make things particularly difficult for the Chiefs.
"I think it's tougher on them for sure, because you just don't know necessarily his style. I've been around Davis for a few years, understanding what he likes, doesn't like, the kind of style he's going to, you know, call the game with and stuff like that. But overall, I think it's going to be tougher for them to respond and adjust."
That's an interesting advantage for Denver. Kansas City will have to prepare for an offense they haven't seen under Webb's leadership. If Webb can keep the Chiefs guessing, the Broncos could make a fast start.
Bo Nix and the Broncos are still wary of Patrick Mahomes
Despite having plenty of confidence, the Broncos aren't underestimating Patrick Mahomes. Sean Payton has spent the offseason preparing his team for the best version of the Chiefs quarterback, knowing how dangerous he can be.
Patrick Surtain II shares that mindset. The Broncos star expects Mahomes to remain a major threat despite returning from injury, particularly if the quarterback relies more heavily on his passing.
Surtain believes Mahomes could become more of a pocket passer. Unfortunately for Denver, that is something Mahomes has consistently excelled at throughout his career.
The Broncos therefore have plenty to worry about. Webb's offense could give Kansas City problems, but containing Mahomes remains the biggest priority.
