Bills star shares difficult circumstances Josh Allen faces & shares supportive message for QB

Buffalo Bills are entering a new chapter with Joe Brady as head coach, but expectations remain the same. Josh Allen is still expected to lead the team to a Super Bowl.

Dion Dawkins addressed those expectations during an appearance on NFL Network's Good Morning Football, saying Allen already has enough pressure to deal with.

"I don't have any [expectations]. I don't add any more extra pressure to that kid that he already has," Dawkins said on July 16. "Josh understands what he's doing, what he's not doing. He understands what the mindset is and what we all expect."

He added that the quarterback has expectations for his teammates, and it's up to the rest of the roster to help him reach the team's goals.

"We know what Josh expects from us as well," Dawkins said on NFL Network's Good Morning Football.

The five-time Pro-Bowler made it clear he doesn't want Allen changing the way he plays because of outside criticism.

"When it comes down to it, Josh is Josh, and he's gonna be Josh. He's No. 1 for a reason, so I don't think that we need any more expectations than we all already have,” Dawkins added.

Dawkins also embraced the start of Buffalo's new era under Brady, comparing the team's mindset to the movie 300 as players rally around their new head coach.

The support for Allen doesn't end inside the locker room.

Jim Kelly doesn't want Josh Allen to change

Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly was asked on Good Morning Football whether Allen should scale back his aggressive style to better protect himself over the course of the season.

Kelly acknowledged the risks but said he wouldn't want to see Allen lose what makes him one of the NFL's most dangerous quarterbacks.

"Josh is Josh. That's what he does. He runs, he makes the big plays with his legs,” Kelly said on Good Morning Football. "You want him to protect himself a little bit more, because he does take chances. But the thing is, that's him. That's the way he plays football, and I love it."

Allen's physical style has become one of the defining parts of Buffalo's offense. He led all NFL quarterbacks in rushing yards after contact last season and consistently extended drives with his legs when plays broke down.

The former MVP also enters the season with added recognition after an ESPN survey of coaches, scouts and executives ranked him as the league's top quarterback.

What do you think? Should Josh Allen tone down his aggressive playstyle to protect his health, or is that physical edge exactly what the Bills need to win a Super Bowl? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
