Bernie Kosar Steps in Shedeur Sanders’ Defense Amidst QB1 Battle

As the Cleveland Browns prepare to head into the OTAs, either Deshaun Watson or Shedeur Sanders will emerge as the frontrunner, although a Browns legend picks the latter.

While many speculations point towards Watson taking the lead, Browns' former QB Bernie Kosar endorsed Sanders and explained his reasons for doing so.

“For Shedeur to come in as a rookie with a really limited talent roster around him offensively, he certainly made plays,” Kosar said on Yahoo Sports Daily. “He deserves to be in this mix and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shedeur get this opportunity early, if he doesn’t come out as the game 1 starter.”

Chris Pownall of Yardbarker agreed with Kosar, blaming the Browns’ offense last year for Sanders’ limited performance.

The Browns finished 31st in points scored and 30th in total yards. The season then ended with a 5-12 record, with Sanders contributing to three of those wins as a starter.

When Sanders' turn came after Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel, he threw for 1,400 passing yards, seven touchdowns and ten interceptions. He also added 169 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Kosar concluded by saying that Sanders has a long way to go if the Browns work on their offense and give him the players on the field.

Shedeur Sanders Posts Cryptic Message During QB Competition

With competition pressure mounting daily, Shedeur Sanders turned to social media for a cryptic reflection on the QB battle.

"Think about a person's opinion. In the grand scheme of life, it means nothing," Sanders posted on Instagram. "We often give opinions power when we react to them and make them valuable. Why expect anything different from a modern culture that doesn't keep God at the forefront of daily actions?"

The Browns' OTAs begin May 19, and head coach Todd Monken has made it clear: the player who outperforms others in OTAs, minicamp, and training camp will claim the QB1 spot.

Cleveland's quarterback room currently features Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and Taylen Green. While Green remains a long-shot developmental prospect, the true starting role battle centers on Watson, Sanders, and Gabriel
